Not all dairy-based cheese is vegetarian friendly! If you're a lacto-ovo-vegetarian (that is, non-vegan) you ought to check the labels of dairy-based cheeses. Some use beef-derived rennet. Some cheese companies now market their cheeses as vegetarian, but it's not universal! Hope this helps. By the way, well-cooked vegan food can be FABULOUS!! Give it a go. ;)

There's a substitute for cheese. Like for example "Follow your Heart" or "Veggie slices" brand. Vegans don't really eat cheese, but they need to find a substitute for cheese if they really need it. I don't think its necessary though.
