Du musst bedenken in welcher Zeit das Lied entstanden ist, ich denke das es etwas harmloser gemeint ist, eher im Sinne von Kokettieren. Viel ruhiger Außerdem glaub ich nicht, dass dergeleichen in dieser Zeit so ein Thema war und empörend gehandhabt wurde. Die "alten Kerle" haben mit den jungen Mädchen eben "etwas rumgeschäkert", normalerweise ohne es ernst zu meinen. Also eher ein Kompliment.

The waterboys are a fine 'concept'(as someone commented) Mike Scott is the driving force and hey use as many musicians as it takes to deliver great music and lyrics. They all get paid for helping deliver us some fine songs over the last 2.5 decades. What I meant was that Mike Scott is the founder and only permanent member of the Waterboys. Over the years there have been almost 30+ musicians who have come and gone and have been classed as Waterboys(some of them have stayed permanantly from 2000 onwards. I think Scott has always perceived The Waterboys as a concept - not a fixed permanent band as such.

umm, easy, this was good then and still is now, i wont lie. The problem is that it doesn't appeal to the young crowd like Scooter does, so in fact Scooter is being good because anyone who wikipedia's them, gets a little note on how they took a [major] part of their song from sailor. and by the way they aren't techno-no's they are actually amazing..... listen to Maria I like it Loud and you'll see......

Both versions are very good, people who grew up with this won't accept that scooters version is better. Just like most of the younger generation will prefer the scooter version like me :)

I agree, well-written song and absolutely timeless. When "Steeltown" was released, Rolling Stone magazine incessantly compared these guys to U2 and The Alarm. Give me a break. I almost wore out my cassette copy, just finally threw it out a few years back... Damn hard to find on CD though!
