I can assure you that all the yoshis are happy and as healthy as they were when they started. This is a virtual world they are plugged into to vent the anger that builds up in such cute little creatures. They never show negative emotion because its bottled up inside them then released all at once when they need to vent.

Just like some people, certain dogs just like to act tough and cranky. Most of the behaviors normally associated with a dog being "sweet" - licking your face, rolling onto their back to show their belly, etc. are (in the language of dogs) acts of submission rather than affection. Many small male dogs may love their caretakers, but do not equate that affection with submission. I'm betting Yoshi is stubborn, but gentle as a kitten.
