Are you fucking serious? One thing Kurt Cobain was a brilliant song writer,alot better than AIC. ANd the reason Nirvana got big is because of their brilliant lyrics includeing easy riffs and okay singing. THats what made them big. Kurt was alot better song writer than Jerry/layne conbined. What I would give to have been a part of the grunge movement in the early 90s.. Its a shame I was born in 92... I completely missed this type of music that I have fallen in love with. Now hardcore music is the sensation, and dont get me wrong, I love hardcore music too, but grunge was the best period of music we have ever seen. RIP Layne and Kurt, we will never forget you or your contribution to our music. You inspired a generation, we can never replace you!

To be honest, I wasn't being wholly serious with my question, given that the answer actually seems rather obvious. I can see how they were(/are) considered a grunge band, given their aesthetics. They seem to have played with a similar aesthetic to Nirvana and Soundgarden, and I don't have a problem with them being lumped into the classification. Although they might, given their strong classic rock influences and such. Meh, this is an amazing song anyway.

right you are. however, soundgarden and AIC were not doing anything revolutionary or groundbreaking in 1989 or 1990 to justify a new genre. the media became so sick of the hair bands of the 80's, that they labeled the dumbed-down rock called nirvana "grunge" and lumped AIC into it, even though AIC was extremely blues based and played solos, not relying on power chords like nirvana. I mean facelift was very much a metal alblum. They were victims of being lumped into the genre

Way before Nirvana? Soundgarden did form before both AIC and Nirvana, but AIC and Nirvana formed around the same time. Nirvana's first album, Bleach, also came out a year before AIC's first album, Facelift. AIC was just played on rock radio stations before Nirvana was.

I said it once and i'll say it again, this drummer is defiately tryin to get his shine on! If you listen to the original version which can be found right here on YouTube, you will see the CLEAR difference between a CRISP clean drummer who knows his role in the scheme of things and one that is still tryin to prove something. The drummer is definately good, nobody's saying he's not a good drummer, but he isnt playing this song the way that it should be played, every sound has a unique style.
