Because, if like me you an English woman with a Polish man, then he will have friends you have never met who are Polish, so it helps to ask them if they speak English. And if you need to ask for directions or something, you can greet them and then ask them if they speak English in order to make it easier for you ask for directions, incase you are not able to properly speak their language. :)

While you're right that learning a second language and acquiring a language as a young child are very different, I don't know where you're going with the difficulty of learning thing. I imagine that a native Russian speaker would find Polish a lot easier than English, but a Dutch speaker wouldn't agree. It's not like one is objectively more complex grammatically.

I took 2 semesters of german in highschool, so when a former polish citizen moved to Milwaukee and started working with me, well I thought German and Polish were close to each other, considering the countries are so close. "comment tu t'appelles" means "what is your name" it's just that there are different ways of sayin' it, for example : Quel est ton nom? If I translate word for word : Comment tu t'appelles? = How are you called? Comment vous vous appellez?* = How are you called? Quel est ton nom? = What is your name? *I didn't make a mistake by putting two "vous", also, the "t" in "t'appelles" is "tu" Hope it helped and don't hesitate if you got questions There are more diff ways of sayin it tho

Ok, "j'sais" means "je sais" (I know) it's just a contraction like "it's" instead of "it is" but in French "it's" is ALWAYS in a contracted form ("c'est" or, when not contracted "ceci/cela/ça est" but you can't put a word beginning with a vowel after a word that ends with one, it just doesn't work) So that's it and don't hesitate if you have questions :)

I mean, its sure that there are ppl who speak French across Canada but Quebec is THE place, it's predominantly French, but different expressions, names sometimes and ways of speaking than in France... anyways Quebec is more "united" in the way of saying things/pronouncing them because France has a lot of different "communities"

Isn't that a bit off though? You can't be new matter because you're not creating new matter, you're removing matter and placing it in another time. It's as easy as saying you were here, and now you're down the street. But anyway, I don't believe that anyone can actually time travel. Even though the theory of time travel is right, matter can't go that speed. To even go to the speed of light, you'd have to have no mass. So light itself in theory is the only thing that can travel through time.

Look, there's a very easy way to determine if he's telling the truth or not. When HE becomes 70 and greets his younger self from the past and they do a DNA test which proves they have the same blood, we'll know he was telling the truth. I don't think that's what he's saying... Kaku is a popularizer of science - he says things in a way that most people can understand the concepts. This is just one of the easier ones to explain... Try explaining some of the other concepts (relative distance, perhaps) to someone with no knowledge of quantum mechanics... It's a bitch :P

Maybe too sure of himself. There's a few interpretations of quantum mechanics, the Many Worlds theory just being one, but the truth is that no one really knows what quantum mechanics is saying. So to say that Many Worlds theory is THE modern view is a pretty cocky announcement in scientific circles. Still, it's all very interesting.

I came to the same conclusions a while back when contemplating time travel. Consider that time can only move forwards, but you find a way to jump backwards to a certain spot on the "film." Any thing that interacts with you would surely alter the time line, but time has already been written so you are just moving around "waste" because the present is disconnected from the past ie it cannot interact and thus not change the past. So the past is not "parallel," but a disconnected reality.
