its like a sponge, it absorbs flavours wonderfully, and as far as looking natural, it doesnt look much differet to cheese! or cooked eggwhite for soft tofu! you can even make it crispy!

What a great visual! I haven't attempted to make tofu since my hippie days in the early 70's but I'm making some today with my daughter and granddaughter. I'm using inari as a coagulator as I did before. I think the same temperatures will apply as on the video. Thanks for the refresher course!

aloha, thanks for sharing i will have to try it, i do mine a bit different. i squeeze the water out, oil the pan, smash the tofu pretty good, i add yeast tumeric for color, garic powder and braggs, done in no time. the tumeric really makes it look like eggs. i like onions as well but put them in with the oil first. aloha

I've been vegetarian for four years now, and just recently started to eat meat again...but a few weeks ago I stumbled upon some veggie magazines talking about vegetarianism, and I just had to go back!!! Now I know I will be veg 4 ever! However, after doing some more research, I've decided to go vegan! I already gave up milk, so now I just need to tackle that darn cheese! am just going through the chemistry involved in the manufacture of tofa. It would be one of the most exacting manufacturing process I have ever come across. I am a retired Industrial Chemist with some 40 years experience. So, you can take my word for this. AND, you are suggesting to people to eat this ? I certainly would not eat tofi and if you have any commonsense, neither will you. I would much prefer milk and meat as natural foods, thanks very much !

Manufacturing tofu is a complex process not at all "natural". organic or anything at all healthy. see- Good Food: The Complete Guide to Eating Well - Google Books Result by Margaret M. Wittenberg - 1995 - Health & Fitness - 379 pages From page226. Soy proteins are mainly used as a very cheap source of "filler" used in a most junk food products. With milk and meat, we know that there is little or no chemical processing before we buy these foods. This cannot be said for soy products.

Looking at the dish in itself, you present a great idea with excellent ingredients. Maybe for future episode on other dishes try using some zoom ins.. (if it won't ruin the camera) and use different words aside from "Good" to describe your dish. =)that was something noticeable near the end. Awesome recipe?I'm always looking for new things to do to my tofu! One thing you might try is freezing the tofu (in the package) for 24 hours, quick-thawing it in boiling water for 10 minutes, cutting it into cubes and then hard pressing the cubes between clean towels (I usually stack a few phone books on top of it) for 30 minutes. It gives it a more french toast-like texture and takes to marinade more quickly.

Besides, tofu is made from soybeans (organic plant), curdled by lemons, limes, or other ORGANIC material, followed by some device to make it harden into. SirDewdalot, look up the longevity of the japanese (no 1 in world) and see what they eat. Many just eat tofu and home grown vegetables. A poison it is not, mind you if you spray the beans with poisons, it will likely end up poisonous. Your country adds rBST to milk (banned by almost every other country in the world) so would not surprise me if they spray with dangerous chemicals in US. Tofu is high in iron, low in fat, also depending on how its made, high in calcium, taste is inert like rice.

No it is not. It IS a health food you ya moron. It doesn't even look like it is added with hormones. How the freak do they add hormones to a plant? I can hardly see how; I can only see gene splicing to the plant is the only possibility. And besides, soy-fed cattle (and pig) is better that corn-fed cattle. Also ich will gar nicht versuchen zu begründen warum ich denke dass die Autoindustrie (mit allem was dranhängt) schlimmer wäre. Ich weiß nicht mit welcher Gewissheit man dies behaupten könnte, ebensowenig wie man jetzt die Fleischindustrie für alles übel verantwortlich machen kann. Das Video ist wirklich gut und leider ist der Inhalt wohl auch richtig. Dennoch esse ich gerne Fleisch, nur eben bewusster. Es muss ja nicht jeden Tag das "Billigfleisch" aus dem Supermarkt sein, aber ein bis zweimal die Woche esse ich mein Fleisch, vom heimischen Metzger. Ich schade durchs Autofahren auch vielen (erst Recht seit die EU Nahrung rein mischt), ich fahre dennoch Auto, nur überleg ich mir ob wirklich jede Fahrt nötig ist. Leider fehlt aber vielen Menschen das Problembewusstsein!

i never rinse my tofu either, usually just wrap it in paper towel and press it between two plates (with a kettle resting on top for pressure) while i cut up any veggies i'm using, and by the time that is done, the tofu is nice and dry

I made it - delicious, good job, thanks. But the rinsing of the Tofu in case the packaging imparted flavors!? And then add ginger and garlic and soya and saracha hmmm. I'd skip the first step and save the worlds water and trees (paper towel) and try not to feed your own privelidged white woman neuroses. My nubian friends howled at the first step! :-)

The Beets on a guitar hero 2 custom that i made. Still needs star power, but meh. AND NO I DID NOT PUT ALOT OF EFFORT INTO THIS. The main guitar was more rythm and hard to hear.
