One of the most somber and beautiful pieces I have ever heard. The first time I ever heard the song, was in my summer band class in high school about 10 years ago. My teacher was trying to get us into different types of music. And he turned out the lights and played this piece to us at full volume. I remeber the conductor saying that in England they play Elgar's Nimrod and in America they play Barber's adagio for times of sadness.

Jinx is right there was no label called Techno when this came out. Derrick May has a video on here some where that explains it all. He was inspired by Chicago DJ's because he used to take trips to Chicago in the 80's because he has family that live here. Techno is actually a bastard child to Acid House music and House Tracks. Just like House music is a bastard child to Disco and Electronic.

Surely it's more beautiful (and made famous) in a film like platoon where the music reflects emotion. I doubt very much that this song was made to dance to, and by changing it Tiesto undermines it's brilliance I find. That said, I do enjoy his remix as an isolated piece.
