At that intensity, yeah, I don't think you can keep your violin steady. She's tugging on it. This piece really demands control (keep in mind also that this is Bach), and I don't think one should strain themselves beyond their physical capability just to get a few more cents out of their vibrato. It's already nearly a semitone wide. It might seem more emotional that way at first, but after a while it becomes apparent that it's really just blunt. Might as well call it a trill.

I'll be the first to make an informed negative comment: I don't like her vibrato. Yeah, it's wide, but it's also probably beyond her comfortable range -- her whole violin shakes (especially in the other recording); you can hear it affecting her bow control. Also, this is more of an aesthetic preference, but I think it's too fast and convulsive for this particular piece. And to you white supremacists hyped up over Asians playing European music... find something of your own to be proud of.

I would need to know one more thing though to make it to the meeting, The Time you needed to meet at those places. Incredible String Band had a big following in Melbourne around 1970 [The ELTHAM Super Shows - in the bush] and around Belgrave and Hurstbridge on the very outskirts of Melbourne. Colourful clothes, capes and hippie dress and ISB were the vanguard minstrels. We all listened to them at the music library at Melbourne University and then we would hitchhike off either to the CROSS [Kings]

So much bliss that even death seems enjoyable. What a song. Mike was always writing tuneful songs to Robin's cosmic numbers. The studio version has Robin bounding the bridge of his acoustic creating sitar sounds. He didn't have time to do it here as this song was performed later in the broadcast of the Felix show. Too bad we don't get to see how he does it. You'd often find Mike playing an actual sitar on Robin's songs. One would arrange and play lead on the others songs quite often.

the addition of the drummer is genius, not that he does anything in particulair but its just a nice application to some good played music... Well done keep up the good work, didnt even notice the video first 3 times i heard it, the song is able to stand out by its own.. Surely magnificent.. Good job ladies.. A fan from denmark;)

Its an excellent piece being a chamber musician myself, I have to say the Ravel String Quartet in F major is my favorite quartet, the 1st movement is my favorite but the 2nd and 5th are also favorites of mine. The viola part is great especially when Ravel gives the melody to the viola as a solo or as a duet with the 1st violin. Personally i like the beginning in a faster tempo to establish the moving line right away rather than finding the tempo later on. Otherwise this group is fantastic.
