Hoagy Charmichael (from Bloomington Indiana)wrote Star Dust in 1927 at "The Gables" across from the Indiana University School of Law (JD '27). It was recorded and became and instamental hit. In 1929, with lyrics by Mitchell Parish, and it was an even bigger hit. At the time it was the most recorded song ever. My wife and I stayed at the stardust in april, 1983, for our honeymoon. We went back to Vegas this year for our 25th anniversary. Vegas 1983 no longer exists. Only one building still stands from that time. Even the frontier, next to the stardust, is gone. Plenty of new construction was going on, too. Vegas is unreal.
