I think maybe there really is hope for the next generation. The other day my 10 year old nephew asked me to play Deep Purple's Made In Japan(Live) to hear Woman From Tokyo. I nearly fell out of my chair. That was the first album I had ever bought when I was a kid. He made his uncle proud. Mark Knopfler is a fantastic guitar player with a style and tone of his own. When you hear him play just a few notes, you immediately know it's Knopfler. That's one sign of being a truly great guitar player.

The Dylan comparison doesn't work at all...they are worlds apart thematically,stylistically, instrumentally. Upbringings in small-town Minnesota vs. Queens? Not much of a comparison there, either... Two very different, brilliant musicians we're lucky to have. Period.

this version is just way better... i mean, mark knopfler doesnt have the best singer voice, but the feeling he puts into it is just unbelievable. plus, he is a SOOO MUCH better guitar player than the killers one... mark knopfler is one of the top guitar heroes.. killers player is not known at all
