There was sooo much potential for paradox in this movie. For instance, when Louis told Doris he'd never invent her, she disappeared. That means she was never invented, thus none of this would have happened - including Louis making a decision never to invent her. Therefore he probably would have invented her anyway, wash, rinse, repeat. =P Ah well, technicalities.

I think I might help dispel the confusion. The movie makes it look like the alternate future happened ultra-fast after the invention was stolen. Lewis could've moved on and met his family like it ought to have happened, but later they were all enslaved together. It isn't a paradox, just the movie making time look quicker.

Yeah: there are things I would change too. I'd find out what caused my best friend to suddenly turn against me in high school. He was the closest friend I'd ever had and I only knew him for a year and a half. He turned on me and was ultimatly expelled for trying to beat me up (he failed terribly) and I regret that. Also two of my friends that died I regret that I wasn't as close to them as I could have been: one was an enemy at first and the other I just didn't give much of a chance at first
