The chanting part was actually ripped off a CD of indigenous Taiwanese festival music. Unfortunately for Enigma this song became so well-known worldwide that the people who made that CD found out about it and sued for a cut of the royalties. have to say i couldnt possibly disagree more, while taking musical theatre into film is brave to say the least especially when the leading actor had no prior training.. I feel it gave his voice a far more natural and earnest sound than any trained opera singer is capable of achieving. It maybe technically poor but to me and i imagine a host of others this version is vastly superior to some of those done by trained singers. its personal taste obviously, but it's the reason i loved this production
