I love the PBS IDs from 1:31 - 2:19. I really think they should've kept this. All they have to do is to get current celebs like Miley Cyrus, Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, ect. and this ID would've still been up and running.

An innovative extension of the idea of Mohammed Unis, for which he won a Nobel Prize. Not gifts, as stated by one commenter, who apparently didn't bother to watch the video. In fact, close to 100% of the loans are paid back -- a rate of return far better than enjoyed by the credit card conglomerates. My hope is that Kiva will extend the range of this program to include more loan opportunities in North America. A small loan combined with a viable plan can make a huge difference.

No, you lend it out of the goodness of your heart, and hopefully, re-invest it in another human being when the funds are paid back to you. If you cannot "Give" $25.00 without expecting some financial reward, this may not be the venue for you. Put it in your local bank and collect 1.whatever percent they are paying. This program was designed for TRULY needy and grateful people, in desperately poor communities where a small loan can actually make a world of difference in their lives.

This is a wonderful organization and supports an excellent cause. Their default rate is actually lower than other more traditional loans because they work with micro credit institutions in the home country. Take this to the next level by using peer influenced loans, where the next person in the community cannot get a loan until your is paid back. Works like a charm.

What makes all this people think that Africans will have a nice future after the loans, and won't ever have problems with money again? It will only make the problem even worst. 50% of Portugal and Spain's houses already belong to banks because of loans.

I think the loans you make to the people is money that you are comfortable to part with or you will be comfortable to wait a long time for it to be returned;if things dont work out. Im comfortable with loaning a small amount if it can actually DIRECTLY help these people other than giving them to charity orgs. and wonder where my money went :)

As a child of the 80's...You know i certainly grew up on Mr Rogers, and i sincerely hope that when i have children they can grow up watching great shows such as this one. Hope is the key word. Too much has been put into what will "sell" and that is somwhat sad; i think. What will we do W/O Fred Rogers? Damn i hope i can find his program on DVD in the future for my children. It holds in it simple, timeless lessons to be learned by youth of all generations.

When I was little, I never watched his show. I just made fun of it and thought he was a weird guy. I just got done reading about his life and watched this video and his 1997 Emmy acceptance speech, and I've got tears in my eyes. I'm 20 years old. Ron Paul had a big following on YouTube because Ron Paul paid 20,000 followers to register with YT with hundreds of one time use only YT user ID's. The "Vote Ron Paul" spammers didn't have a YT account before the election, maintain the account leading up to the election and haven't used the accounts since then. The YT Ron Paul following was a fraud.

I admire RP for sticking to his guns on running for the Republican party. I am proud that he is the kind of man that stands by what he says. I support RP and donated money to his campaign but come fall if he doesn't run on a third party ticket I will not write him in; too much at stake to, IMO, throw away a vote. If he would just realize the GOP is not for him and join a third party ticket he could be, if nothing else, a HUGE influence on this coming election...and elections beyond. I don't understand why he refuses.
