I used to teach SCUBA diving there back in 2002-2003 and was in the water all over the prefecture nearly every day. Although the waters have been heavily over-fished and some of the reefs around the very popular dive sites (Maeda Point and Sunabe Seawall) are nothing to write home about, the reefs around the the northern part of Okinawa-honto and the Kerama Islands are in very good shape.

Kata's are typical in most japanese arts, even flower arrangements. They are movements which contain the basic principles of the art, once you have made these movements a part of your 'being' you will start using these movements unconsciously during the practise. The thing is that a sensei cannot start explaining those movements in words because it is too much too coördinate with your mind and then you'll miss the entire purpose of the movement. That's why kata are important :)

In Karate the Kata is useful for ONE thing, it creates your "fighting mode" if you do Kata and imagin your oponets during kata and pretend your fighting people thats all its usful for. Karate is a good style, but non is best... In Karate they dont just do kata like in USA, they actually fight and many REAL non Americanized Karate use no gloves or pads and is full power to eachother. They is very crazy, but thats how you learn REAL fight, kata is useful for make fight mode, but thats all.

Someone obvioulsy doesnt know much about karate if they believe kata is meant for fighting, kata holds the secret for proper effective self-defence, Itosu and the original karate masters NEVER put much faith in Kumite! Im only commenting on what was written above my orignal statment. Im tired of this mis-spoken of why we fight. The League of Nations set the stage after WW1 that led to Germany and Japan to start the war. Japan was told they could not colonize like Britain, France, Holland ,the U.S. etc were doing in Asia. Great video. I lived in on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan for 2 years. It was amazing. However, the topic of the American military's vast shadow of negativity now cast on Okinawa is not one that I see of great importance right now. The reason is there are greater threats to safety posed by other nations. If anything, we are protecting them or at least giving them more of a chance to survive. Think back to World War II when Japanese soldiers killed Okinawans out of fear of our military.

Actually, that was the one time I over powered my gun. It was way too much with what I had which was a 20mm rubber and a short 16mm band. It was stupid of me to do that, but I packed a punch. Mahi come up so close you don't need all that power. I was thinking about Wahoo (which we didn't see any of) when I put that rig on. And yes it was a problem with recoil, accuracy, and loading it was a pain in the ass! Dual 16's is fine and I like a single 20 the best. My RA is spot on.

do you have any problems with recoil with the two rubbers and the RA carbon , im assuming thats what type of gun it is because of the cammo. it took me some getting used to but know i just use my rabitech apex carbon its soo much nicer and doesnt have as much recoil cheers by the way nice spearin over there love to go over and have a look

It took me a minute to realize what you were saying about the 4:14. Dude he was way out of my way by the time I shot. Think about the angle of the camera compared to the angle of the gun. They point at opposite angles. Plus he was out of my range.

I have never been to Okinawa but my dad and his family are Okinawan and all we got a chance to experience is the music. I love how in the dance sequences you can see the different cultures that have had an impact on the Ryukyu islands and the Okinawan people. My fammily wants to go to Okinawa and thi makes me want to go even more. I cried watching this. I am missing out on so much ='(

I am a 40 yr. old Okinawan/American who has been in the U.S. since I was 18 months old. I have not had the opportunity to go back and visit family. My mother decided not to teach myself and my two brothers anything of the Okinawan culture since the day she came to the U.S. because she was constantly ridiculed for being in a mixed marriage with an American military man. Thanks for your kind, kind words. I am working on an entire series about Okinawa. If you search for "James Knott" and "Okinawa" you can find the first four videos that I made. I plan on making 25+ short podcasts about Okinawa. I was a professional tour guide on Okinawa for 7 years, and my husband and I were both tour guides for several of the Hawaiian Uchinanchu groups during the 3rd Tai Kai in 2001. I am a hapauchinanchu who was born and lived on okinawa for 12 years. You displayed beautifully the culture. The Peace Memorial recognizes the families who were killed during the war. The people however are tenacious and peaceful despite the atrocities of war, My beloved mother being a survivor. Looooooved your video! Nifee debiru!

in the begining the eisa members the Ryukyu Matsudori daiko I knew one of the members who performed at the Taikai he was my Eisa instructor during the Junior Study Tour which was in July-August which was also part of the Uchinanchu Taikai you call your group a Tomono kai? we call ours a Kenjinkai I am from MI great video though brings back good memories thankyou
