if its embarrassing than exercise, thats what I do, I used to not at all and was pretty scrawny, I'm glad i do workout because several girls in my Art class this year (Senior year, so I have been hitting the gym for 3 years regularly)challenged me to arm wrestling I was able to beat them in less than a second, proud of it too, because I dont want to imagine the humiliation if I hadn't started working out.

Videos like this are great and very helpful. The only thing is, I thought from the title that she was really really giving herself an injection! She isn't - her husband is helping. I actually (and I know I'm not the only person who had to), really gave myself my own IVF type injections. So it's certainly possible if for some reason you don't have someone to help. The bullseye helped me. You just have to really twist around to reach the injection site. After the first time, no big deal!

Thanks Poglme, On my first IVF cycle I did indeed heat it and I found it didn't really help. I think everyone has to find their own way and try out different things. This was my 5th IVF cycle and it's like second nature to me and I have no issues anymore with pain, I rarely get bruises, never get lumps and never have problems walking the next day. I wish I could say we didn't have a lot of practice, but I've had at least 60 of these shots, and counting...

Hmm... How long did you have to do PIO? Because I'm on week 12 and i have to say, your method would never have worked for me. I DID circle the appropriate area, but I injected myself, plunged slowly, and if I don't have lots of heat before and after I form golf ball sized lumps under my skin. It's great that someone thought to make a video, but NEWBIES.. please at least heat the area before. You'll regret it around week 5 if you don't.

Yep, you need to check for blood after injecting the needle. The injection is intramuscular and not Intravenous for a reason. ^^. Either way you don't want the needle exposed to regular house air too long either. Good lucky!

Oh that was not fun to watch. We did an IVF cycle that resulted in a chemical pregnancy and then did a FET cycle and that resulted in one empty sac and our now 13 month old son. I do NOT miss the "butt shots" by any means. They weren't so bad but taking them until you are 9 weeks like my doctor calls for is too many in a row (53 for my FET cycle... LOL) but VERY VERY worth it in the end. Good luck and I hope you end up with a baby very very soon!

But I all so know a little kid that is 12yrs old and he just had his surgery done on his legs. And he will no longer be walking. Well he actualy had stop walking a little bit before the surgery. My friend also has muscular dystrophy. I have known him since kindergarden where we stayed in the same 30 or so students class up to eighth grade. Your life story is exactly what has been happening to him. His strenth was always slowly getting weaker. Anyways, i just really appreciate your sharing of the disease. God bless

Good luck! Though, until our government okays stem cell research for all states, it'll probably be a loooooooong wait for a cure. But the religious zealots that only care about what's best for them and their beliefs would rather save the "lives" of fetuses that will never be born than save the lives of people like me and Darius. Yup. I went through exactly that at about the same age. Just tell him he's not alone. That he may feel that way, but there are thousands of boys just like him that go through what he does and feels how he feels. Has your family considered the MDA summer camp program? That helped a friend of mine. I have no other advice. He'll keep getting weaker and get sad and frustrated. Just don't feel sorry for him. Support his dreams. Keep communication open, so if he feels down he can talk to someone.

My little brother has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, he is 11 and is currently losing the ability to walk. He falls a lot and has a very hard time climbing and getting up.
