Yes, however, in "Risk" Dave let the producer have a lot more liberties as to how the album was made. There's an interview with Dave where he said that sometimes he would walk into the studio and find a guitarist he didn't know recording a part he didn't recognize for one of HIS songs.

Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction, and Youthenasia were amazing albums, but some of their albums after that weren't to great. Marty did make megadeth creative, but you make it sound like their are dependent on him to make creative music. All I'm saying is, is that don't try to say that the only thing megadeth had going for them was marty, because they were doing pretty fucking good before he came along, and they are still doing great even though he is gone. Their newest album is DELICIOUS.

Why bother comparing guitarist? You are just beating dead air. Both of them are amazing and unique. To say one is more emotional than the other is such bullshit. Marty has some of the most amazing and unique phrasing, and great vibrato. Paul probably plays guitar with the most pure enjoyment and enthusiasm of any player in the world. They are both playing for our and their enjoyment, and obviously they aren't here to compete with eachother. Why compare?

Oh,come on you all saying who's better, gimme a break!Comparing Steve to Marty is like comparing oranges to headphones!!! Two different styles.Marty has obviously practiced a lot the solo, maybe 'cause he wanted to impress Steve, that is one of Marty's influence, and absolutely rocked. Steve, instead, wasn't familiar with the tune, but the result isn't bad at all. However, they are two of the best guitarists in their genres and they are both very versatile (though I'm quite the Marty's fanboy)!

Im a bit confused...I am saying that Lukather is an excellent player. I do not feel that there is any disputing that assertion, and I feel that it is fact, and not merely my opinion. He has played on everyone's album that you can name, won numerous awards including 5 grammy awards...I don't know what else to say other than that I have been playing for almost 30 years, and I feel that I know good playing when I see it.

i never sed i knew enough about guitar playing... thats why im learning... thats why im looking at videos like this, cos im trying to learn... and find out new things. Lets not pretend this guy is held in that high regard in comparison to many others, okay maybe hes a guy i shud have listened to but gimme a fuking break, by wot he plays here, i conclude that his playing is not great

my favorite of all time. Reading stuff on him and meeting a various peeps who "knew" him I guess he was one of the nicest peeps on earth. He was known for sitting hours after concerts signing autographs. He'd apparently sit there as long as someone wanted his autograph. Class Act. R.I.P. marty.

You know this is funny..I came first to listen to "El Paso", then "Spanish Eyes" came next in my thoughts. As if for reasons unknown, people seem to so commonly associate this song with Marty Robbins. When I heard him say he never recorded it, I was so surprised. I got to see Mary LIVE at the Boone county fairground in ILL years ago. He had that same guitar, must be his favorite. It appears to be a 3/4 size and I thought it neat the way he held it. He had a voice like no other. Love his music, his style. When I learned he had died, it really hit me hard, I could always turn on his music when feeling down and it would cheer me up. I was so down, I took the next day off work and just puttsed around the house and yard listening to his cassettes.

This man was extrodinary! He never left the stage till the last autograph was signed and the last picture was taken. I'm from the Dallas are and I NEVER missed seeing him when he came within 100 miles. Have several autographs from him, lots of pics and got one hell of a lip-lock kiss from him. Idiot?? This man IS class. His upbringing was very troubled and humble to say the least. He was known for having a smile in all weathers. While others were out partying after his concerts he was sitting singing autograpsh,...hours after the show at times. As long as someone that came to see him wanted his autograph he would be there for them. Alot of old country starts have shady pasts and this is one guy that kept it real and never got a big head.

I seen Marty back in the mid 70's when i was about 10. My dad was/is a huge fan, he asked me to go down front and take a photo of Marty singing. When i got down front, Marty seen me and asked me up on stage, he joked around with me and got huge laughs from the crowd, i was later asked to go back stage with my dad. To this day it was the high light of my dads life. Marty was a bonafide Gentleman folks, and a hell of a good guy.
