guys, do you think the dsl 50 sounds ´metal´ enough without tuning into drop-a or so (actually i m tuning between drop-d and drop-c), and even without using active pickups? Yes, i´d agree to use a pedal to boost the gain. I have the oppurtunity to buy a used one for nearly 50 percent of the current price. I play mainly rock and metal. Would you recommend it?

accually they have a solid state pre-amp with a single 12ax7 in there to try to shape and color the tone to sound "tube" and i think they do a pretty good job of it. but if you use the effects loop it loses any tube characteristics it had. still cool amps though.

this is a great amp, what most don't realize is when yo ply one of those other amps that sound like you are playing bass and guitar at the same time you get lost in the mix. i have a mesa dual rect and it sounds unbelievable by itself but it gets lost in the mix, i also have a dsl. when you play the dsl by itself it could seem lacking in bass or gain, but when yo play it in a band setting it puts you right up front and sounds awesome.

I saw her perform in Vancouver about three weeks ago. She was very apologetic about being off the radar,but it was quite clear she had not lost her touch. It was a terrific performance, I had a front row seat .One thing that I did notice about her is that she doesn't make a lot of eye contact with her audience. I think that she is probably a very shy person and is not comfortable with the adulation.Who can blame her with all the shit they drag people through in the media.

After her third release her record company dropped her and why she hasn't had another record company sign her IS THE BIGGEST MYSTERY EVER. She does acouple of gigs a year, but with all this talent she has pretty much fallen off the face of the earth. It's sad and the only answer is may be she likes it like it is. It was only a few years later that Steve Friedman, the producer of the Today Show decreed that no segment would be longfer than seven minutes, "because Americans have a short attention span."
