Yes, exactly! I also remember the pinwheels.The melody there is very feminine and kind of mysterious. Im very touched, everytime I hear it, and when the "C E C" comes, the hair on the back of my neck stands up. Its typical chinese melody, might be the way "too simple" for european tastes but as a Chinese, we emphasize the "feeling", the three time repeated "C E C" note is really perfect. But it ONLY works with the orchestra. Its definitely not a piece to play at home with the piano.

I agree with DD93 . . . just as Lennon and McCartney would not have been what they were without each other . . . so, too, do I feel the same for Waters & Gilmour. Waters is very probably the "more cerebral" and "more contemplative" of the Floyd . . . And yet without Gilmour's stellar guitar work and singing . . . I'm not sure Pink Floyd would be that famous. They worked beautifully together because Waters had the "ideas" and the "concepts," but Gilmour had much more of a sense of "melody."
