yeah- basically a retro band filling in a passing fad type of niche. Like that band Jet that came out at the same time. You really can't survive off another band's sound for too long. And i wouldn't want to attempt to pass my band off as the next Thin Lizzy or Zeppelin et al. They found their own sound, therefore, so must we all.

How can you say Metallica havent tried new things over the years? Pretty much all of their 90's albums are different to their first few albums. Then they tried to change with St.Anger which they got slaughtered for doing. So why the hell would they change? when they do all their so called "hardcore" fans moan n cry about it saying they should stick to their older stuff and not sell out to other genres. ...to make it fit. I shouldn't have called Death Magnetic "shit".It's not. It was just a letdown to me. Hetfield doesn't sound right singing that kind of music anymore.What I was trying to insinuate was that I think Metallica should start delving in some other genres of music. Bowie did it, The Who did it, The Stooges did it, and these are bands/artists that have stayed timeless, even from way back in the 60's! Because they always bring something completely new to the table, instead of rehashing

(Continuing my previous coment)...And it would make more sense for Metallica to take some steps in another musical direction. Look at The Who: Daltrey got older. His voice aged. So they modified their sound to make his voice part of what makes their new stuff sound good. Look at say, David Bowie. He adapted to a more contemporary-rocker-style, that's a bit easier on his voice that has been battered quite a bit over the years. Look at Iggy Pop. His voice is shot too. But he changes his style...

well... i do realize patrick is 100% right... It's not about "new stuff sucks", James Hetfield is just done. It doesn't matter if the age is responsbile for this or not: older metallica material is great, i really dig Justife for All and the others... But Load, Reload and SPECIALLY St Anger and Death Magnetic suck really hard: it's just not Metallica.

Well I'm not going to compare bands! I will say this though - Thin Lizzy were definitely one of the better rock bands to see live back in the 70's - If you have "Live & Dangerous" you will understand why! They always put everything they had into their shows - & did their very best to give their fans the best show possible.... That is why whenever you watch or see a video of them performing live the fans are always into it & the show is very energetic! Phil Lynott was great man R.I.P.!

Kiss? Please, Kiss was comprised of schlock musicians with a gimmick Alice Cooper fasioned for them. "Rock and Roll all Night", "Beth", and the disco sellout " I was Made for Loving You". Garbage. One song, " Detroit Rock City" redeemed Kiss as real musicians for me a little. But they don't hold a candle to the visceral and musically dynamic creations of Thin Lizzie. Hmm...The Who did some good stuff, but I don't think Townsend would claim to be a guitar virtuoso. Great songwriter though, I agree. I would add that Thin Lizzy were mainly Anglo-Irish. Only Gorham, to my knowledge, was American.

Well when you grow up in my environment those kind of people really piss me off. I'm 16 and I love it that album, I mean you cant go wrong in any way with that it fits everything . Thin Lizzy is truly a timeless band or at least i think they are just a shame I'm far too late for quality tunes.

There's rock out there. You just have to look harder these days. The big labels just shove the same old crap down your throat more and more now. It was still pretty bad in Lizzy's day (just look at the 1973 charts for example - a lot of throwaway pop), but there was a bit more diversity back then about what got heard.

I saw Lizzy live twice, at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, Ma. Bad Reputation tour, They opened with Soldier of Fortune with all the house lights on, and then boom, colored cans turned on then right into Jailbreak. Crushed the place. 2nd time at at nightclub the Paradise also in Boston. Stage is about 3ft off the floor and your right up against the stage. "Black Rose" Roisin dubh, was played by 5ft in front of me,,, I was talking to Gorham in between songs, I'll never forget either show.

Right On! bullhead was a bit hard for me to digest on the first listen, but once I got it... I really got it! Still one of my faves Then when I heard Houdini it blew my mind. I was shocked with how they could write such great catchy songs in addition to the weirder stuff. This album is an amazing display of how versatile Buzzo's voice can really be.

melvins are epic and huge, plain and simple. sometimes i would think that they make songs about everything with bizarre lyrics....or all of their songs are about nothing! all in all they make themselves stand out from other bands and try to be original, and they are. ducadimantova91, you are so right on so many levels, this is a beautiful song indeed.

What a beautiful song, I love it! I didn't know that Melvins could write such beautiful songs! The sound at the very end of the song is really something magical! The Melvins are my idols, 'cause they don't give a fuck about anyone and make music just like they want to, and that's why they never fail with each album. "Queen" by Melvins is also a beautiful song, check it out! I don't think it's supposed to be beautiful, but when I hear the melodies in that song it just makes me wonder!

I saw these guys this past Sunday at the glasshouse in Pomona,CA and these guys kicked SOOO MUCH ASS!!!!! They played as good of a show or probably even better than lordi. The crowd was small but that didn't change their performance. I can't wait until the next time I see these guys again

Went to see Lordi at House of Blues in Houston, they cancelled. My friend and I were super pissed. This awesome man named Ira Black of Lizzy Borden invited us to see them at CB Coopers. Turned out to be one of the greatest metal experiences of my life, I hadn't heard of them before, i'm 18. I have a new respect for 80s heavy metal. These guys fucking rock. Anyone else see them at CB Coopers??

Well I couldn't get *on* the stage but I could lean on it up front, which was still very cool. I was maybe 4 feet from center stage and right in front of Phil. Scott was to my right, Snowy to the left and behind him they had a keyboard player (Darren Wharton maybe ?). Phil would look down and smile now and then. I raised my beer in appreciation !

It was a great tour, and it seems awesome you could get up on stage. I guess the concert I was on was somewhat more crowded... The most clear memory I have is that Snowy and Scott made a couple of solos where they played simultaneously and created an awesome sound.

Phil Lynott was not necessarily taking a shot at those with German heritage with this song. This song is just about a piece of World War II history - much like Iron Maiden's "Ace's High" or "Tailgunner." This is probably my favorite song from RENEGADE - I hope John Sykes brings this song into the setlist while touring under the Thin Lizzy banner. I can see this video is a bunch of clips from miscellaneous TL videos, but it's a good effort for a good song. Thanks for posting!

well the crowd are probably bored because they're german and most of which wouldnt know this song as it's not one of the most famous like boys are back in town and whiskey in the jar etc., and he only got one or two words "wrong" and technicly they're not wrong because this is an early version of the song called "disaster" which was made before the album version,
