Cut Maestro Kraus some slack. He was in his late 60s at the time of this rendition. His vocal abilities are not as good as what they were when he was younger. But I'd say that this is still a remarkable rendition. Young upcoming tenors (e.g. Villazon) cannot even get close to such a level at age 36!

Obiamente los numeros uno son dificilmente comparables. Pero de ahi a ponerte como te has puesto...y mas tratandose de Kraus que destaca entre los mejores por su tecnica. Yo tambien creo que es el mejor, aunque mi favorito sea Corelli.

Un pardon ami je n'ai pas voulu t'offenser ce qu'il passe c'est que je connais à alguen qu'il poursuit les mêmes sommeils et quand je vois le difficile qui est cela je me mets à penser que personne ne critique probablement probablement le chanteur d'opéra, il faut reconnaître qu'il a son complique et chaque qui a son style de chanter, une excuse et de ma part il ne recommence pas à succéder des saluts

Me gusta mucho Alfredo Kraus y no me considero ignorante. Lo que verdaderamente me resulta raro es que se haya celebrado su Tosca, ya que no creo que haya ido con su voz. Igualmente Kraustrujillo tiene razón, uno no puede ser tan selectivo desde el principio....

Si lo canto en su estreno en El Cairo y más tarde en Cannes. Cuando un artista empieza en ocasiones tiene que ser "flexibe" con lo que canta pues a un no se ha hecho un nombre y no se tiene la capacidad de rechazarlo todo. Esto es algo que lo han realizado TODOS los cantantes, cantar algo que no tiene que ver con sus condiciones y facultades naturales. Salvo esto le dire señor Coralrabida que las crónicas del 56 hablan de un mayor éxito con interpretacion de Tosca que con el rol del Duque.

Comprendo que a los fanáticos no les quede otra cosa que "celebrar" el exhabrupto de su ídolo Kraus. Pero para un oyente objetivo no cabe dudas de que aquí como en el Nessun Dorma trastabilló completamemte. Hay arias que no son para su voz y cuando las intenta desnuda por completo la fragilidad y poca extensión de ésta. La técnica por más pulcra que sea no puede suplir la carencia de voz adecuada. ¿Que lo llevo a Kraus a cometer estos suicidios?

No entiendo mucho sobre canto pero pienso que la técnica de Alfredo Kraus no la tiene ningún otro tenor, aparte del sentimiento que pone a sus interpretaciones. Sin menospreciar a nadie, creo que no es tan conocido como otros tenores porque no ha sido muy mediático, simplemente amó su profesión y, por lo que sé, se limitó a ser alguien humildo fuera de los focos a excepción de sus actuaciones.

as a training tenor myself, i have to say, that, Alfredo Krauss is certainly a tenor to look up to. this piece is next to learn with my teacher and if i could sing it anywhere near, as good as this , then i will be extremely happy.Superb rendition, what a great voice.

Who needs a visual when you have some of the BEST music this side of Heaven? If I had to pick three tenors I would want to hear singing together ---Placido Domingo, Joseph Schmidt and Alfredo Kraus. Kraus has a Mexican SOUL and a German voice --PERFECTAMENTE! Placido might have been born in Spain but he eventually learned how to do mariachi music right! Joseph Schmidt was family so I am a bit biased.WHAT WOULD IT HAVE BEEN LIKE TO HAVE HEARD ALL THREE TOGETHER? Sounds a lot like my Dad too.

De lo mejor de Los Sabandenos.... y ni que decir de Alfredo Kraus. Es una de esas cosas que unen a los canarios. La interpretacion, para quitarse el sombrero y la voz de Kraus, increible. De haber estado en esta epoca, hubiesen sido los " CUATRO TENORES".... y cuidado. Me ha sacado lagrimas. Da orgullo ser canario. Y de Los Sabandenos, no hay nada que se pueda anadir. WOW! I just listened to Pavarotti 1969 (with Freni) and this is MUCH better (vocally, stylistically). He just has a problem, I don't know if it's a mannerism or a weakness, but he slurs upwards on some notes, and the voice doesn't seem to follow as quickly as the intention.

No, creo que hay controversia con eso, es más o menos como el do agudo de O soave fanciulla al final, que Kraus tampoco canta (y lo puede cantar facilísimo), volviendo a Puritani, dicen que originalmente se cantaba do agudo, pero ahora lo hacen en re algunas veces, es medio raro todo. Kraus, genio total, el ataque de agudos y el fraseo es genial.

I heard Kraus years ago, (many) sing in Lucia Chicago and the voice carried fine and then next week I heard Pavoratti do it with Joan S yes his voice was slightly larger but not sung with the passion or style Kraus did it with and in fact his voice was not a lot larger at that time. Later he pumped his voice up but that hurt pav. as far as high notes in time, Kraus never pushed so he lasted longer How old was he here? Heard Shicoff and Tucker also sing Edgardo beautifully 1961 and 1986

i disagree. if you watch the time, the ref hits count 9 at 8 seconds into the count. check hatton vs. mayweather, that 10 count, a normal 10 count, is longer than 10 seconds. the ref counted like he couldnt wait to get to 10 for Masato. i may be splittin hairs here, but i think it a serious issue.
