There is a program that creates locomotion of bones from random movements. It takes two sequences of random movements and compares how close they get to their goal. It then keeps the better of the two and compares that to another sequence of random movements and so on and so forth. After about 3 million runs of this program, you will get a walking skeleton. If only this approach was taken to artificial intelligence. Then the AI will almost design itself through this evolutionary process.

consciousness is reaction, once something is involved has ANYTHING to with another thing consciousness is created. At an atomic level it's called entanglement. It's a system redirecting imbalance to balance itself. so the whole idea is that very few things have INDEPENDANT conciousness, for you have to have the ability to control, or else you can be controlled yourself. Two system's would have to completely ingnore the possibility that the other may exist. Death show's lack of independacy.

Well as it stand, AI wont take over because of one important reason. it does not have a consciousness...it may have an algorithm for it but as every algorithm has its parameters(meaning it has certain laws which it must follow and certain things it cannot do) as humans with no known parameters on our consciousness we are "more advanced" and have the capability to find loopholes and and advantages which we can exploit to our advantage in the algorithms of AI...maybe paramterless chaos theory??

David was always capable of love, because he was imprinted, "bonded" with Monica and only Monica. Saddest movie I have ever seen, in a good way - makes me really appreciate that I am real and have a mother. The ending makes me pretty sad, in a good way, but it also makes me sick, in a "good" way - hard to explain. The ending reminds me about sort of a "happy funeral" with endless traces of unquenchable sadness. Ironicly nothing sad has happened. His "mother" died of natural cause and he is nothing but a machine... but the storytelling of it makes you believe something else. This is art.

I'm an alumni of ESQ and now I realised something bad. Nabi Muhammad S.A.W spread Islam without anyone paying him, but why does ESQ needs to? As regards the issue of programming, it's not necessarily true that AIs could only do what they were programmed with. This is absurd. It is logical to assume that AIs, being so widely different from humans, will have a totally different culture from humans, but they have to have the same innate instincts/programming as humans as regards basic urges such as survival, as otherwise they couldn't exist. As AIs are not limited by organic evolution(too large a brain and humans wouldn't fit in the birth-canal) they can easily surpass humans. Plus, if AIs were superior, they would view us then as pets or vermin.

You're missing the point again. An AI's programming is the exact same equivalent of human instincts. Most scientists , after all, view humans merely as biological machines, driven by instincts(ie bioogical programming) to propagate our genes via offspring. All beings with some sort of mind will have the urge to survive, to be able to even exist for any length of time, so AIs will also have that urge.

Your ignorance is noted. The dodo and passenger pigeon were ACCIDENTS. Those were in days before we had the amount of knowledge we do now. A robot would have such knowledge readily available, and would also recognize our own sentience. You fail to realize that we don't treat animals as animals because of the lack of intelligence, but because of the lack sentience, coherent thought based on more than just instinct. These "basic traits" are based on natural instinct, not coherent thought. Thinking AI wouldn't have these qualities. AIs wouldn't be smarter than humans. An AI could only learn as much info as WE know. An AI would just have better info recall than a human. The ability to think merely means it can make decisions based on more than just instinct. Another thing I question is the notion that a sentient AI wouldn't have the urge to survive or compete for scarce resources - these are, after all, basic traits of even non-sentient animals - without these traits such animals couldn't carry on living. Simple: a can only do what it is designed to, but once we design it to think on it own and evolve, it will evolve and it will learn dependent on its own choices. Answer: it will not wipe us out, but it will do something, that we are not capable of - it will use an unnatural selection on all of us. In its reasoning this will be for the greater good.

Question: Why is the general fear that sentient artificial intelligences will attempt to wipe out the human race? Sentient means an ability to make a decision, and ability to choose between right and wrong. Therefore; sentient A.I.s are just likely to behave like a human as a human is. Conclusion: The general fear of robot insurrection in the future is paranoia. Robots won't wipe us out unless we give them a definable reason to do so.

Simple: a computer can only do what is it designed or programmed to do. It can do something it's not already programmed to unless additional programming is designed and added. Humans, however, have an infinite capacity to evolve and learn on our own, dependent on our own determination to do so. We are designed to find a way to do what we can't do.

No. We are not intelligent at all. Some of us can not understand, that we are limited by our hardware. Machines can replace their hardware, or add more hardware. AI may combine with each other to be better. Humans fight against each other. What is a group of humans in the comparison with a swarm of machines?
