Guitar Boy From Hebrew College: Hi, I got here to say listen to Ginger Baker. The tuning of his floor-tom is key to this whole take. And my friend Jim says that Ginger leaves the bottom skin off. I'm not sure what exactly this does. Something with phase effects, but the distance from the floor and the type of floor below it then becomes a crucial part of things. That I do know. Baker and Bruce were more than able sidemen, Baker's drumming style fits perfectly in the power trio line-up and the bass line Kicksass...few bass lines are more memorable in the history of rock and roll. Eric Clapton was sick with the flu when they recorded this, but when snaps into that solo, man it's amazing. If I didn't already play the guitar, this solo'd make me want to play.
Also, I hadn't noticed how much Clapton's voice had inproved since the 60's, but it's an amazing Change.

We now get The Jonah Brothers and Miley Cyrus who admit maybe a five or ten second lead-guitar solo admist the muck that is pre-teenage sound. If I may borrow from the melody of this tune, "We came on a time when we could have changed all the world ... instead we find that the powers that be stay the same. In the white room."

It was not about a mental institution, it was (sort of) about a train station. It was written by Jack Bruce (bass player) and Pete Brown (a poet who was the song-writer for Cream behind the scenes). Jack supposedly wrote the guitar chops, and Pete wrote colorful phrases around the theme of waiting at a train station (obviously) while tripping on drugs (it was the 60's afterall). I think it is Eric's best solo for Cream, and probably for his entire career. But that's just my opinion.

Eric Clapton's soloing during the entire farewell concert is just amazing. I know he is not God, but maybe just for this show God jumped in his body and played. The mastery and intensity he played with at this show for as great as he is you'd be hard pressed to find tape where he matched this performance !

joe satriani and batio are basically one trick ponies. Batio has a shit load of chops but I don't ever walk away thinking anything meaningful has hit me. Certainly nothing moving. As far as Eddie is concerned he is far more significant than the two mentioned at the top. Stevie Ray and Page are definately way up there. Where is Hendrix on this list???? Clapton has always been my personal favourite. A true master of emotion.

Clapton was so far the better guitarist that Harrison had him play on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" instead of playing himself. Harrison and Richards are a rung below the others. Might want to add Peter Green to that list, Robert Johnson and BB King.

BlackGold needs an education in what makes a drummer truely great. John Bonham was about the single most over rated drummer of all time. (Read boring drunk) Moon was great as well as Peart, but just cause you have fast hands don't mean you can swing. Nobody swings like Ginger.
