No,I have never heard of quadruple tonguing. Flutter tonguing produces a completely different type of sound, as does slurring, which doesn't even use your tongue at all. Flutter tonguing produces the "growl" that we tend to associate with jazz music. Fluttering doesn't produce distinct notes and is not used to differentiate notes. That is double tonguing. That's what he's doing. Maybe tuba players do something different, but that's because you're all from another planet.

Yup yup... I agree mate. My best friend (trombone player) arranged this for two trumpets, a trombone, and a tuba. It was cool but no where near as good as them(obviously lol), but yeah... its a really fun tuba part

It's not actually either, it is the same tone as a euphonium but it's played at 90 degrees. I forget the name of it but it's very similar to a euphonium sound :)

I just heard this band on Saturday by Times Square and I bought their CD based on what I heard. It was well worth the money. This song along with Mushallah were my favorites. Too bad there's only one Baritone/Euphonium. They made a fan out of me.

Exactly, I meant to say that you need to use more power to achieve the same dynamic level that would be achieved without the mute. Also, I use a mute quite frequently and I don't notice any back pressure. That may just be a tuba thing though. Which instrument do you play?

The reason people think they have to play differently is because there is more resistance on the face causing back pressure. And it is called a MUTE so the sounds created are going to be softer. But there is no difference to how you should play with one in.

That might be because you have to play a bit louder to compensate for the volume difference, but you really shouldn't use any more air. If you're ever looking for a mute, google "Ron Apperson Mutes." He makes some really good ones.
