What about that tomb I mentioned? can we do that? NOOO.
By: seanchristian1971. on 02 Dec 08, 23:33:31
We cant even carrie massif obj like that let alone manipulate it like that,...hahahhaha...still funny tho Uhhmm...don't think so....Ever seen what is lifted and manipulated in a modern shipyard? Not offloading but shipbuilding. Amazing sights.

HAHA No kiddin' I could tell some shit on the designer (just a young kid getting her feet wet in the industry) of an HSBC Bank building foundation I built this past spring. Of course the shit rolled down hill to us carpenters at the end of the day. Good thing it was a Union job.

Haven't listened to the C2C show yet so I don't know his trip. I thought it was already known how the stones were cut. As for the Era it was supposed to have taken place it doesn't seem very incredible to me. When all you have to do for sixteen hours a day ( I don't think they kept to an 8 hour work day) is cut stone I don't think those in charge really gave a shit how hard it would be. How about Stonehenge ? Wasn't that built in the same era? Don't underestimate perseverance.

Book a flight to Egypt - Aswan...Go to the quarry and look...You will change your mind... And for Khufu's pyramid, it's not hundreds of them : 43 beams weighing between 27 and 63 t and around 80 cubics blocs about 10 t. And they got 12 years to quarry these blocks before setting ine the pyramid. Start learning, stop dreaming...(no offense...) And only 20 guys for every beam quarried...no place to stand for more guys...Long work, for sure...but they had...Time...something we forgot now...
By: nossydobon. on 02 Dec 08, 22:02:16
This technique has never been proven to have taken place. I mean really, think about it, to stand on a cliff, throw rocks down, break a 60-80 or more ton block of granite off of the cliff face is, well an absolute fantasy. Not to mention hundreds of them. No one can duplicate it today. It's just theory. If not, do it! Using dolerite to cube said stones is possible. But hundreds of them in the 20 year time frame? With a maximum of 20,000 workers, 10,000 on average?(their numbers, not mine)Please.

Is it a matter of nationality ? Are french just coming out from the cavern ages ? Wake up...
By: guminda. on 02 Dec 08, 21:34:09
Example: His theory on cutting 60 ton stones while still in the Copper Age? By standing on cliffs and throwing harder stones down upon them. Paaaaaalease! This technique is called : pounding...Egyptian quarried granite by pounding a trench around with dolerite balls (dolerite is harder than granite). You can visit Aswan quarries and you will understand...Dolerite tools are still on site...
By: Zarroph. on 02 Dec 08, 20:18:46
Really? C'mon now. You would have realized that a long time ago. Not to mention that a French guy wouldn't know the answer before someone from where they are located. The truth is, you will never know why or how they are built in time for it to be of any use to you. It's purpose has already been served. GG trying to figure it out.
By: SitThisOneOut. on 02 Dec 08, 19:17:08
Sounds good to me. What is bazaar is finding an architect who knows how a building is built! The ones I know are still determining the size and location of the building while the Structural Foundation Drawings are going out the door for bids!!
By: nossydobon. on 02 Dec 08, 19:15:12
I'll admit, I don't have a theory but that doesn't make a person who does correct in their assumptions. I just heard this guy on Coast 2 Coast AM this morning explaining the gist of his theory. And some of the things he said just blew me away (as not only misconceived but unscientific). Meaning without scientific basis or historic fact. Example: His theory on cutting 60 ton stones while still in the Copper Age? By standing on cliffs and throwing harder stones down upon them. Paaaaaalease!
By: guminda. on 02 Dec 08, 18:12:02
There were 3 quarries : facing stones (limestone) from Turah (East bank of the Nile), backing stones and rough core stones (limestone) from Giza (300 meters South of the pyramid) and granite for the King' chamber from Aswan (850km South). That means : an huge supply chain !!!
By: guminda. on 02 Dec 08, 17:55:46
Yes, when Man went first out of his cavern long time ago, he built his shelter, his house, whatever you call it...Architecture was born...XXX milleniums ago... Egyptology is very young science...200 years...Who is best suited to talk about architecture ?
By: Brennna. on 02 Dec 08, 17:20:25
It depends on who you ask. Zahi Hawass says the stones came right from the area of the pyramids. This guy says from Aswan, 500 miles away. I have always heard they were from the Muqqatam hills in Cairo. If you go there you can see where they were cut. Some pyramids didn't do so well, one bent, one collapsed. The three main ones didn't sink because they sit on a stone plateau in Giza.
By: stickon2me. on 02 Dec 08, 17:14:49
I agree, I've seen many and heard of many theories but this one is just plain funny... nobody is mentioning the biggest blocks, some of which have been cut out of mountains many miles away from the actual construction site. Let him explain that, and also how they made a tomb out of pure solid(dont know the type)onxy type of rock, where the edges are to the 100st decimal precise 90 degrees. We cant even carrie massif obj like that let alone manipulate it like that,...hahahhaha...still funny tho
By: guminda. on 02 Dec 08, 16:29:52
Nothing is funny about...The funny one is not on this side...
By: guminda. on 02 Dec 08, 16:25:48
To be an architect to understand how Man built the pyramids is certainly a better training than any Egyptolgist training... What he proposes...Aliens, locks, huge ramps, machines, balloons, kites, external spiral ramps...You run quickly out of solutions...believe me...
By: seanchristian1971. on 02 Dec 08, 15:06:56
Search the web! I'm sure there are theories to your questions. The ground beneath was probably surveyed before any building began. Ancient Egyptians used sighting poles and line to survey the land. Just like it's done today, along with various high tech equipment. Again, there are building processes used today that were used six thousand years ago.
By: UFOtuber. on 02 Dec 08, 14:24:44
Has anyone figured out where the blocks came from, and how they were measured and cut?, and why they lasted so long? Why didn't the pyramids sink or even tilt? How could they have surveyed the ground beneath to determine it had a solid base for such a heavy structure? Are there any sunken or tilted pyramids? Are there any partially constructed pyramids that were never finished or were they ALWAYS completed?
By: seanchristian1971. on 02 Dec 08, 14:15:27
These guys are professionals in their field , they know what they are talking about. What do you bring to the table? What are your theories?
By: seanchristian1971. on 02 Dec 08, 14:08:55
Whats surprising to me is that architects haven't looked at the pyramids before. Think about it finance professionals aren't engineering the new World Trade Complex. Doctors don't build hospitals. When a house is built or building is constructed they're not built from the outside in. They're built from the ground up, starting from inside support structures out. Any other way would be inefficient. So why would it have been done any differently six thousand years ago? Why is this toooo funny?
By: nossydobon. on 02 Dec 08, 13:41:46
Beyond ludicrous! Firmly idiotic. Just another poorly constructed theory to amuse the baffled.
By: mfritz0. on 02 Dec 08, 13:26:13
put it to the test. Build a new pyramid. Make it the biggest and the grandest.
By: wutterputter. on 02 Dec 08, 11:22:28
great idea
By: stickon2me. on 02 Dec 08, 10:41:43
hahahahaha, this is tooooo funny
