Maybe he did rip it off, maybe he did not - given his massive amount of original work I tend to believe the latter ... and who knows: if you dig deep enough you might find that set of notes in some piece written by Bach or any other classical composer, no? Let's face it: the notes are rather trivial, it's all about how you play them and that is where Gary just shines.

Völlig lächerlich. Moore wartet fast zwei Jahrzehnte, um einen Song aufzunehmen, der geklaut ist. Eigentlich ist die Melodie typisch für Moore (siehe auch Parisienne Walkways). Alles nur geklaut? Das Gericht sagt, er könnte es 1974 gehört haben, als er sich in Deutschland aufhielt. Was für ein Schwachsinn! Es gibt zum Glück genügend andere gute Songs von Moore, die beweisen, das er nicht auf´s Klauen angewiesen ist.

I had the honor of standing right next to him when I was a bouncer at a club while he played. I had to be next to him to make sure he didn't fall off the stage or so no one came up to touch him or anything. He and his band were playing a concert across the street at Shea's concert hall and they came into the club afterwards. After a drink or two they kicked the headline band that night off stage and played for about an hour! So freak'n awesome. One of my best memories when I was a bouncer....

don't mind this guy. he is one of those fellows that likes to disgregard that which is commonly seen as masterful to seem fiercely independent and not affected by outside opinions and "different". miles changed the face of jazz, and was incredible. anyone that truly listens to jazz and has an at least partial education of the genre knows that. it isn't opinion - simply fact. how can one who changed the face of an entire genre be overrated?
