Some of these were disturbing, but not all. I'm 21 and naturally thin because I have a high metabolism, but I also keep an eye on what kind of foods I eat! You can't binge out on cakes and chips all the time; Eat some fruit and take long walks. Drink water instead of milkshakes. It's not just about staying "thin", it's about keeping your body clean with good foods. This is a MUCH better alternative of keeping yourself healthy, rather than anorexia/bulemia(can kill you). BE HEALTHY, BE YOURSELF.

I hope that at some point that you can turn a corner. I was in rhodes farm a few years before you and didn't get well when i left either.I spent five years after that in and out of units and was sectioned six times. It's been three years since i was last admitted and things are so much better, It's like something clicked in my head that i didn't want to be that way any more. I hope that one day you realise that you are worth so much more than this and that there is so much to live for.x

hello i am natasha from the documentary,i've joined youtube and seen all of your comments which are very sweet and it's nice to see so many people care...i never 'recovered' when i left rhodes farm and spent the following 2 years constantly in and out of units, nearly got sectioned and lost all the weight...at the moment i have been out of the last unit for 8 months now and am not really eating but they've said it's my choice now, i'm doing my gcse's though and enjoying school

I really think this TV program and the nutritionist they featured are incorrectly focussing on the media and magazines as causes of anorexia. The man suffered "a series of personal setbacks" which suggests to me that he, like most sufferers, developed anorexia due to emotional/psychological problems and not through exposure to magazines, the media, or wanting to look good. It's so frustrating how so many of these shows misconstrue and trivialise such a serious illness.

RadicalComedy, I am assuming you have not had anorexia nervosa (AN) by your responses. As someone who has struggled with this illness for 30 yrs but am now in recovery, I would advise that the main purpose of AN is to control overwhelming thoughts and feelings, which are much more complex than 'body image'. Pre-occupation with weight and shape means the person avoids difficult thoughts and emotions through isolation. Treatment programmes that focus on weight and shape don't work.

Your videos are so inspiring and full of hope. i wanted to note that i understand the control you were talking about in this one. the anorexia gives you such a strong feeling of control and feeling "okay" and "put-together" and "everything-is-alright" as long as i keep this in control and it's like a power rush and you don't want to lose it, you want to hold onto it as long as possible by not eating/eating too much, b/c that will mess everything up or make that feeling go away. so you don't eat

I have worked with disabled people for about 6 years. I started off working at a rec center for adults with cognitive disabilities and then I moved on to being a line therapist for small children with autism. My favorite out of both was working with the autistic children. It puts you in check and makes you realize how lucky you are.
