when I was bulimic I could not walk for an hour on a row so I wouldn't say anas are weaker. Purging makes your heart beat irregular which makes you exhausted all the time + stomach acid gets to the organism and poisons it. Of course it depends how often one is vomiting. Besides, Anorectic girls usually eat a bit so they get a bit of nutrients as well.

I think you make a valid point here. Anorexia is a life-long disease; the person's self-image gets so distorted, that even getting help does not "cure" it--these people deal with it day after day. Suicide is often a cause of death with these individuals. It is very sad.

ive had anorexia & bulimia & have been treated in hospital for it. lots of anorexics binge & purge - but after a long time of starving themselves, coz eventually the body is so starved that the need to eat overrides the anorexia. & to me that wasnt a binge - from my experiences & what ive heard from others, binges are an intense amount of food. they are not just eating alot, you eat an unimaginable amount. its shocking.

If her bmi drops below 17.5, and if her 'bingeing' is in response to the malnutrition, and she doesn't binge for any other reason, but also purges due to this fear, it is anorexia - but AN: purging subtype instead of AN: restrictive, non purging. A purging anoretic can vomit, or use laxies - both count as purging. It's the motivation, bmi and other features that would put her more in the AN camp, though people with ed's often have traits of both ed's.

I can understand that. But still. I go in cycles between anorexia and bulimia. And even when I do eat the small amount that I do, I will most likely have the urge to throw it up. So it doesn't matter how much you eat. Anorexics don't *forget* how to eat. They are just afraid to. And usually when they do go for long periods of time without eating, they will likely end up bingeing, making the experience of eating even harder. x

No she is not - look it up, I am in an eating disorder clinic for eating disorders, I throw up on purpose but have atypical anorexia, in the sense that i purge, she starves herself, she had 1 binge of sorts in the entire thing, and my bulimic friends would not count it as a binge, too 'controlled' and small, and to be bulimic you have to binge and purge regularly, 1 binge does not make a bulimic neither does purging! anorexia regularly has bulimic traits and vice versa.

120 calories of what? Processed carbs. It's not just about calories, especially when restricting. Every calorie has to account for as much nutrition as possible... especially for a gymnast. This movie is kind of unrealistic, though. A bulimic athlete (especially a gymnast) wouldn't last very long b/c it fucks up your electrolytes and makes you lose muscle.
