Actually Toyota sold the Sprinter Trueno and the Corolla Levin in America BOTH under the same name of Corolla. The only difference between the two is the Trueno has flip-up headlights while the Corolla Levin has fixed ones. In America the most powerful model trim is the GT-S, which in standard form has 112 hp @ 6600 rpm's and 100 lbs of torque @ 4800 rpm's thanks to California's emission regulations. So they are not very fast in a straight line but when gripped or drifted they are incredible.

Notes: ae86 ( 170 ps, 20 valve engine, 970 kg.)
Swift ( 218 ps, 1600 cc., 1030 kg.)
Torque: 19 kgm / 186 Nm on the swift (i think pretty much the same in both engines.)

no the sr20 over powers the 3S-GTE biggg time really a more fair comparison would be the ka24de vs the 22re both are n/a 2.4L and guess what the ka can always put more power than the 22re a ka with a light turbo can easily put 300hp on the stock bottom end if you really wanted to waste that kind of money on that engine ive seen ka put down 400hp and ive seen the sr20det put down 600+ on the dyno to top it off it was in a ae86.

Please 22rte vs sr20? Why not pit Toyota's 3S-GTE vs sr20? there in the same time line and are both 2.0l turbo. All in all they can both make the same power both good engines but don't bring an engine made and designed primarily in the 80's to 90'+ engine's.

That AE86 was restored by TRD and given to Tsuchiya from TRD as thanks for all he did to increase the popularity of the car. And that.. was his first time driving it.. The Class A 101 engines were made in very few numbers, and even then, extremely few of them went up to 12000 rpm. But even now in N2 competitions, there are 86`s with equally or better modified engines that rev up to 9-11 thousand rpm, many of them have restricted rev in order to keep reliability but with reasonable torque ;)

cornering on a eclipse gst? im not so sure about that man. i mean like my gsx have a very wide turn, so i would never build it for the corners. you could do what you want with your car but still, on the corners the nsx, evos, skylines, rx7 will own you with better cornering speed, since you'll have to slow down alot to avoid understeering. unless you dont care if you win or lose, then whats the point of building it?

i believe that the conversion has turned into a curcuit/touge conversion, not drag racing anymore. note: he also said that drag racing is the lamest form of racing..... so damn and ouch to ya! fyi i actually like the mustang cobras and the corvette z06 and i dont mind getting one at all. the question is: would you swap a v8 or 20b into a car that already has a well built engine? also now its for the corners and not the "lame" straights.

rotor isnt calculated into rotational mass when you're talking about tires,wheels and cornerweights. If they were so concerned about rotational mass,they would've worried about the piece that connects the rotor to the car. that is what really connects to the wheel. so a rotor is seen as weight added to the actual car,not its wheels and tires I highly doubt you could accurately drive a race car fast without rotor upgrades since they also brake later. proportioning valve wouldnt have done the job

Actually, most of the teenagers thinks about Initial D when they hear about it. But I grew up with the AE86..MY dad bought one when it was new in 85'. It is white and yes, it got the black stripes on both sides, only the engine has been overhauled. No mechanical glitches at all. The interior is like brand new and the car doesnt have rust. The car is slow, but I only use it for streetdriving.

So what your saying is the same thing, just with a lot more detail. Tell someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. You forgot caster which is equally as impotant as camber. Stuff camber plates, go get yourself a good set pilllow ball top adjustable coilovers. Do you know what all these do and how they affect the vehicle in relation to one and other. How much experience do you have in this area. Gran Turismo etc doesn't count. (no offense) Just curious.

it won't change the weight balance from front to rear but it will effect the cars balance if not set up correctly. for example. if the back right coilover is 5mm off from the other 3 it will set off the balance. another thing suspension isn't used to balance out the car. its made to lower the center of gravity, inscrease spring rate and bound rebound, and camber if it has camber plates. usually it takes about..a whole day at the track or more to get the suspension down. =\. if ur not pro.

As far the S2000/RX-7 thing: ALL modern cars are heavily computerized, but the S2000 remains firmly in the "fully driver-oriented" category, just like the RX-7. The RX-7 FD3 and S2000 are VERY comparable cars.

Yes to 3 and 4 rotor no to the Sequential Twin turbos. A PP 4 or 3 rotor is enough plus you don't have to worry about lag. All the power and no drawbacks.

i dont think you have read some of the specs of the R35 V-spec and some of the reviews. it was said to have one of the best breaks out of all the cars that he had driven including the F430 ferrari and a Veyron. and well as for the look i do agree it does look a little fat but well it depends for peoples opinions. i like the back because it has a nice curve but the front doesnt match but retains the old beefystyle look

The R35 is a fattie. It's disappointing to see so many manufacturers beefing up their sports cars. Even the Mazda MX-5, once a great back-to-the-basics machine that recalled an era of British roadsters, is off of its diet. Also, the R35 is NOT a driver's car. It's a computer with four wheels and an engine. Impressive, no doubt, but ugly and not half the fun of the Veyron or the F430. Or even (especially?) an RX-7 FD3 or S2000. well both have equal pro's and con's because on dry tarmak the wheels grip harder and bit the pavement making reaction time faster than that of a wet surface. The wet makes it easier to slide but the amount of overtsteer is greater causing an imbalance with the center of grravity of the vehicle. Both need precision but in different aspects which are debatable.

The car was just a regular ol' Sprinter Trueno GTV that was the TRD edition. It's just because Tsuchiya loves the car and won't let go of it that he enlisted one of the original designers of the car and since he's the Drift King, had the entire car dismantled and then put together hella re-enforced. I mean minus all the balancing work and engine mods (that aren't extreme by any means), this car isn't all that different from stock.

It was a tight track, and the R34 GTR is not a light car, weight tranisition between such corners as on this track would not be easy, In an AE86 it wouldnt be hard to out corner him, especially seems that had modified suspension, plus Tsuchiya is a driving god and will pass any one in anything

Also, in the same category, there is a car that beat them both : the MX-5 Miata NA 1600cc. As light, same power but with a shorter wheel base, which matches the level of power of the cars :p. By the way, it is safer to ride the hills at night simply because you can see the incoming traffic, and then can't be surprised ;)

The MR2 oversteers in exits (under power) simply because it is a midship and when you accelerate, the added weight on the rear (cuz of the mass transfer) is simply too high for the tires to handle. A 86 is the opposite, because it has more mass to the front (FR layout), so oversteer in entries --> understeer in exits. Conclusion : 86 = entry oriented (to go fast out you have to go fast in) / MR2 = exit oriented (go slower in entries, but use the power earlier to help the exit cornering)

Do some research, you clearly either did not actually own the car, or just simply can't drive. Well I do suppose your car could have been underpowered severely, but the mr2 was known for its over-steer, particularly in the Mk2 pre-93' models. The Mk1 also had a tendency to over-steer under power. The Mk2's over-steering problem was so bad that it was deemed "dangerous to drive". Toyota wanted to achieve a super car feel in the suspension, which led to a snap over-steer response.

Not to be a jerk, but you need to hone your driving skills. My '89 NA loves to go sideways, I've owned a lot of sports cars and it's among the most oversteery of the bunch. Watch your entry speed and practice with the right revs, gear and throttle play - once you're sliding DON'T LIFT!

The MR2 will tend to understeer if u let the power drop off, its better to drop it back a cog and keep it in the powerband so u can adjust the angle with the throttle (this seems to work in my NA AW11, but i'm still learning) A turbo would also help lol
